Do you ever wonder why some people succeed and others fail? Do you ever wonder what the success people do that the unsuccessful people don’t do?
For a long time I just figured they were born wealthy, rich and famous. Then I met a few people, especially athletes that overcame difficult odds to win. In their rise to the top, they were not wealthy, rich or famous. So, what drove them to succeed?
They were people. Just like you or me. They got up every morning, ate breakfast and started their mundane and routine day. They returned home at night, ate supper and went to bed. They arose the next morning to repeat the same process.
- If it wasn’t riches.
- If it wasn’t wealth.
- If it wasn’t being famous.
- Then what was it?
It was an attitude! That’s right: ATTITUDE
The attitude is determined by an inner drive. It is more than positive thinking. Positive thinking is going to get you so far and then it is of no value. In order to succeed and succeed big, positive thinking is required but positive thinking does not create the winning edge. It may help you attain a winning edge but before one is truly a winner there has to be something deeper, something not seen, that can give one the advantage so they can obtain the winning edge.
One of the first items in creating the winning edge and the most important item as well, is being able to see the end result, the winner. If you can’t see yourself standing at the podium receiving your award or see yourself as the slim sexy good looking person or see yourself being able to write a large check, then obtaining the winning edge in any of the illustrations is not possible. Why? Mainly, because this universe is set up to reward those who deserve to be rewarded. And if you don’t see yourself as being worthy, then you can’t see yourself as receiving the reward.
Everyone wants to make a million dollars but few are willing to do the necessary tasks to be paid that kind of money. Wealth comes to those, especially in America, who are willing to work for it. Let’s say you win the lottery and overnight you are 100 million dollars richer. Do you know that most people who win the lottery are broke within a few years after winning the money? Why? Because their mindset is not used to handling that large sum of money.
Poverty, especially in America, is mainly a mindset. Poor people tend to stay poor and rich people tend to stay rich. If you find someone who was poor and is now wealthy you will find that they started where they were and saved and spent their money wisely. By doing this day after day they became wealthy. When did they become wealthy? The first day they started handling their money wisely. The end result was not seeable with the naked eye but it was there from day one. At some point the persons mindset went from a mindset of lack to a mindset of much. Once that mindset was established and nurtured it was only a matter of time until the person became wealthy. In other words he created the winning edge.
This inner drive or spiritual drive is not a result of evolution or meditation. It is not a result of self discipline or structured living. This inner drive is the spirit of man that was put into us when we were created. It is not physical but a spiritual part of man that operates divinely in a materialistic world. The spirit is there and can be developed to enable one to live a very rewarding life.
One of the best ways to develop your spirit is by reading and mediating on God’s word. If you will put the Bible to practical use it will mature your thinking and spirit and create a winning attitude that is fantastic. Think how much more successful you would be if you had God on your side. Well friend, God is on your side. Our problem is we have believed wealth and riches were for the evil people and crooks and therefore ran away from God’s blessings. If we had read our Bibles we would have found out that God was for us and not against us.
So the secret to creating a winning edge is to draw close to God and have him show you what you need to do to serve and help others. In doing this he will promote you and give you a winning edge that will be better than any reward you could conceive.
Quit fighting the one who can give you all things.
